Bladder Infection Symptoms


The following is a list of the most common symptoms you may experience if you have a bladder infection:

  • A frequent urge to urinate
  • Painful urination
  • A need to urinate at night
  • Blood in the urine (hematuria)
  • Cloudy or strong-smelling urine
  • A feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen

Additional symptoms that may be associated with a bladder infection:

  • Fever
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Penis pain
  • Flank pain (pain in one side of the body between the upper abdomen and the back)
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Nausea and vomiting

Often times, mental changes or confusion are the only signs of a possible bladder infection in the elderly.
