Kidney Infection Diagnosis

Contact your health care provider if you have symptoms of a kidney infection or if you've already been diagnosed with a kidney infection and new symptoms develop, such as decreased urine output, persistent high fever, or severe back pain. An untreated kidney infection can lead to life-threatening complications, so it's important to be diagnosed as soon as possible.

If your health care provider suspects you have a kidney infection, he or she will most likely look for tenderness by pressing over the kidneys during examination and may order tests to diagnose your symptoms.
